Cubic has won $2.9 million contract to provide Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System Individual Weapon System (MILES IWS) equipment to Romania.

Under this modification contract, Cubic will continue providing its MILES IWS next-generation training technology to Romania as part of an existing Foreign Military Sale (FMS) with the US Army, the company announced on 19 February.

Cubic will provide new MILES IWS equipment, spare parts and computer server and software updates to refresh the Romanian exercise control centre that was originally delivered in 2009.

Bill Toti president of Cubic Global Defense said, 'We will supply the latest advancements in our wireless training solutions, including better training fidelity, improved wireless communications and intuitive interfaces.'

The Cubic MILES IWS is a tactical engagement simulation system. It uses laser emitters attached to military weapons and on-body sensors to replicate combat and record data for later review. It increases training effectiveness by reducing setup and calibration time, so soldiers can spend more time on tactics.
