Tunisia Receives Air To Surface Missiles As ‘Aid’ From Algeria

The Tunisian army received Russian-made air-to-surface missiles from Algeria on Thursday in support of fight against armed groups, the security forces revealed Sunday.

The air-to-surface missiles would be used in attacking armed groups hiding in mountainous areas on the border between Tunisia and Algeria, including the Jebel ech Chambi, a mountain in Tunisia known as a terrorists’ hub, the source told on the condition of anonymity to Bernama news agency.

The source did not, however, mention the size of the Algerian missile shipment but described the missiles as "aid," they were sent to Tunisia through a crossing in the border province of Tebessa.

The Tunisian army had previously received shipments of needed arms from Algeria in the light of a security agreement between the two countries.

There has been no official statement from either Algeria or Tunisia till now on the missile shipment.
