The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) on Thursday has cleared the sale of 1,000 Lockheed Martin AGM-114 Hellfire II air-to-surface missiles to Lebanon valued at $146 million.
The proposed Sale includes the missiles, support and sustainment, and training. Lebanon has previously received an undisclosed number of Hellfire missiles from the United States.
According to the DSCA, the sale would enable Lebanon to replenish its existing stocks of the laser-guided missile "to meet current and future threats". The sale has to get an approval from the Pentagon.
AGM-114 Hellfire can be launched from Rotary- and fixed-wing platforms, unmanned combat air vehicles, tripods, ships, and ground vehicles.
US had delivered an undisclosed number of Hellfire missiles to the Lebanese army in September last year.
