Security Audit Of "Vulnerable" Indian Installations

In view of the recent terrorist attack on Pathankot air base, the Indian government announced a decision to undertake a time-bound security audit of all "vulnerable" installations of armed forces, paramilitary and police organisations.

A decision was taken at a high-level meeting on Friday, which was chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and was attended by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and NSA Ajit Doval besides top officials of intelligence and security agencies, Tribune India newspaper reported today.

The government said the "strength" displayed by all the agencies concerned should further be "built upon".

"In view of the continuing threats from hostile elements from across the border, the need to further upgrade both intelligence and preventive abilities, particularly in terms of technology was stressed. It was decided that the security audit of all vulnerable stations of armed forces, paramilitary forces and police would be carried out within a given time-frame," a statement said.
