Northrop Grumman To Showcase Drones, Radars At Singapore Air Show

Northrop Grumman will be showcasing its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) helicopters and advanced radars at the Singapore air show in a move to boost sales to Southeast Asia.

“The company's airborne surveillance and advanced situational awareness capabilities will be showcased through visual displays of unmanned helicopters and high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aircraft systems,” Northrop Grumman said in a news release on Tuesday.

The Singapore Airshow, which is held every two years, is Asia's largest aerospace and defense event, and will take place this year from February 16 to February 21 at the Changi Exhibition Centre, near Changi Airport on the tiny island city state of 3 million people, the release noted.

“The Asia Pacific region is extremely important to Northrop Grumman, particularly as we broaden our global focus,” the company’s chief executive Korea Brian Kim said in the release.

Southeast Asia is one of the world’s most rapidly growing arms markets and US defense contractors have been aggressively seeking to expand their sales under the umbrella of the Obama administration’s “pivot to Asia” policy.

Northrop Grumman's airborne fire control radars including its latest active electronically scanned array fighter radar, the APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar will be on display. The SABR provides 5th generation radar capabilities to the F-16 combat aircraft, the release noted.
