Israel has started testing newer versions of home-made weapon systems that will be installed on F-35I ‘Adir’ fighter fleet.
Although specifics being tested have not been disclosed, the list includes versions of Rafael’s Spice precision-guided bombs and infrared and radar guided air-to-air missiles. The tests are carried out using Boeing F-15s and Lockheed Martin’s F-16s, Defense Industry Daily reported Wednesday.
Israel’s first set of F-35A Adirs are to arrive on 12 December this year. Additional electronic systems will be equipped to the aircraft.
Another six of the nation’s new stealth fighters will be delivered in 2017, with the remaining 25 on order and due to follow over several years.
