Lockheed Martin has been awarded $40 million for development, integration and production of future advanced capability build and technical insertion baselines of the AN/SQQ-89A surface ship undersea warfare systems for the US Navy.
The AN/SQQ-89A is a surface ship undersea warfare systems combat system with the capabilities to search, detect, classify, localize and track undersea contacts, in order to engage and evade submarines, mine-like small objects and torpedo threats, the US Department of Defense said in a statement Wednesday.
The contract is to provide engineering services, travel, and other direct costs for AN/SQQ-89A(V)15. This contract combines purchases for the Navy and the government of Japan.
Work is expected to be completed by May 2017.
