UK ministry of defense has discussed its possible participation in AN-132 aircraft project with Ukraine’s Ukroboronprom last week.
The meeting took place in London on April 26, the Ukrainian Defense Industry announced last week.
The delegation of the State Concern “Ukroboronprom”, headed by the Director General, discussed projects that were aimed for Ukrainian military equipment modernization and import substitution program, with the UK Ministry of Defense.
“We presented the latest developments to the UK ministry and discussed the possibility of equipping our weapons with advanced technology of their manufacturers," said UOP Director General Roman Romanov.
“We agreed to deepen cooperation between manufactures of both the countries,” he added.
Particular attention was paid to cooperation in aircraft building industry, as this is the field where cooperation between Ukraine and the United Kingdom is the most intensive – the newest aircraft An-132 – manufactured by SE “Antonov” in cooperation with Western partners – was created with the participation of British companies.
On January 20, in Kyiv the meeting between the SC “Ukroboronprom” leadership and UK Defense Minister Michael Fallon was held.
After the presentation of the new AN-132, the first agreement on enhancing cooperation and involvement of British manufacturers in UOP import substitution program was made.
