Rosoboronexport is set to export its top anti-missile defence system, S-400 Triumf almost simultaneously to Asian rivals India and China.

Russia’s arms exporting monopoly Rosoboronexport expects to sign a contract with India 'soon' on the delivery of S-400 air defense missile systems, its chief executive Alexander Mikheyev said at the Paris Air Show 2017 on Wednesday.

"Rosoboronexport is carrying out pre-contractual work with Indian partners. We are discussing the technical issues of the deliveries. I can assure you that both our company and the Indian side are set to sign the contract soon," Mikheyev told journalists.

An agreement on the delivery of S-400 anti-missile and anti-aircraft systems to India was signed by the Russian and Indian governments in October 2016.

Regarding China he said, "The S-400 Triumf systems will be delivered to China in strict compliance with the contract concluded between Rosoboronexport and the Chinese side.

While China has already signed up to buy 5 units of the S-400 system worth an estimated US$3 billion, the value of the Indian contract, for six systems will only be known after India and Russia sign a contract.

The S-400 system is designed to destroy aircraft, medium range cruise and ballistic missiles and can also be used against ground targets.
