Pakistan Test Fires Enhanced Range Nuclear-capable Cruise Missile

Pakistan has test fired an enhanced range version of its indigenously developed nuclear-capable Babur cruise missile.

Babur Weapon System-1 (B)’ is capable of striking targets both at land and sea, at a range of 700 kilometres, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Saturday.

The missile is equipped with the Terrain Contour Matching (TERCOM) and Digital Scene Matching and Area Co-relation (DSMAC) technologies and can carry both nuclear and conventional warheads.

The technologies will enable the missile to engage various types of targets even in the absence of GPS navigation, ISPR said.

Pakistan tested a cruise missile from an underwater dynamic platform mimicking a submarine-launch (SLCM) Babur that has a range of 450 km last month.
