The Philippine Navy will test its newly acquired Israeli missile systems this July, the Department of National Defense (DND) said on Monday.
The Spike-ER surface-to-surface missile systems from Israel-based Rafael Advanced Defense Systems will be tested on July 17 and 18 and from July 24 to 26 within Corregidor Island, Defense Spokesman Arsenio Andolong said.
“Tests will be conducted on the missiles and their platforms sometimes on those dates and somewhere in the area of Corregidor Island,” Andolong was quoted as saying by The Manila Times.
“This is all part of the Technical Inspection and Acceptance procedure that all of our acquisitions undergo,” he added.
The testing will include live-test firing of the missiles of the Navy’s multi-purpose attack craft (MPACs), which were built by the Subic-based Propmech Corporation.
