China Displays Laser Weapon at MAKS 2019

China has displayed a new weapon system featuring directional-emission high-energy laser to quickly intercept aerial targets, at the ongoing MAKS 2019 air show in Moscow.

Developed by China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp, the LW-30 can intercept airborne targets such as photoelectric guidance equipment, drones, guided bombs and mortars.

Being a partner country at the biannual event, Beijing has also displayed other defense hardware at the MAKS show.

Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC) will showcase AG600 large amphibious aircraft, JF-17 fighter jet and Wing Loong drones.

Xi'an based Northwestern Polytechnical University will be showcasing the LJ-1, a tactical target featuring sustained-G, stealth and endurance with the ability to simulate 3rd and 4th generation fighters, and 5th generation fighters up to certain extent.

Other Chinese hardware to be displayed include space rockets, aero engines and passenger aircraft.
