US Navy’s USS Louisiana Ohio-class Nuclear Sub to Undergo Repair & Maintenance

The US Navy has contracted International Marine and Industrial Applicators to perform maintenance and repair works on USS Louisiana (SSBN 743) Ohio class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine.

“International Marine and Industrial Applicators LLC, Spanish Fort, Alabama, is awarded a $14.2 million contract for the accomplishment of preservation and non-SUBSAFE structural repairs and maintenance on USS Louisiana (SSBN 743),” the US Department of Defense said in a statement Monday.

The work to be performed on this contract will support main ballast tank, superstructure, sail, recesses, sonar dome, interior and external hull to include commercial blast, non-SUBSAFE structural repairs and preservation.  The contractor shall furnish the necessary management, material support services, labor, supplies and equipment deemed necessary to perform the work. 

Work is expected to be completed by December 2020.
