Tehran is set to begin mass production of indigenously-designed Jask cruise missile that will be equipped on all the Iranian submarines.
“Mass production of Jask cruise missile, developed under Jask-2 Project, will begin soon. All of the force’s submarines will be equipped with the weapon. It will surely be a serious surprise for the enemy,” Navy chief Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi was quoted as saying by PressTV during a Navy exhibition held on Saturday.
According to the commander, the missile’s current range will be improved “substantially” in the future.
In addition, the official also divulged a few details of Iran’s “Jask-3 Project.”
“Another project dubbed Jask-3 is currently under development. The project will allow a wider variety of missile capabilities to be used in submarines,” Khanzadi revealed.
At the event, Tehran unveiled several other navy development projects in the pipeline: Pelikan maritime patrol drone, Sadaf-2 naval mine, Soren positioning system for submarines, Balaban guided bomb, and Loqman training vessel.
