China has issued new guidelines according to which all of its new fighter aircraft must be coated with low-visibility paint to reduce the chances of being visually spotted by adversaries.
The regulations issued by China’s PLA Air Force consists of 5 chapters and 16 articles sets clear standards for painting and marking of its aircraft. While newly-built combat jets will be coated with low-visibility paint, older aircraft must be applied with unified marking painting.
Requirements for special markings, such as national flag, "Chinese Air Force" and "Red Cross" are also included, China Military reported on March 13.
The team of Chinese experts who drafted these new rules took cues and conducted in-depth analysis on domestic and foreign aircraft when they were working on it. These regulations will be gradually implemented, starting this year.
