Iran Shows Video of Last Year’s US Triton Drone Shooting
Khordad missile system bringing down US MQ-4C Triton Drone @IGRC

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IGRC) released new footage which showing the homegrown Khordad 3 air defense system shooting down the US Navy’s US Navy MQ-4C Triton drone in June 2019 a day after it launched a cruise missile capable of a 280 km range.

The video release was to mark the “first anniversary of the downing” by the IGRC, Iranian media reported.

The video shows the mobile air defense system launching the missile after being stationed on a tracked carrier. The missile successfully hit its target inside the Iranian airspace over the coastal province of Hormuzgan on June 19, 2019.

The video release comes a day after the IGRC announced that it has test- fired a cruise missiles in a naval exercise in the Gulf of Oman and northern Indian Ocean Thursday.

The official IRNA news agency said the missiles destroyed targets at a distance of 280 kilometers. The tests took place during a naval drill by Iran’s Navy in the Gulf of Oman and Indian Ocean.

Iran’s Navy chief, Adm. Hossein Khanzadi, told state TV that the c-class cruise missiles have homing  warheads that can hit targets with high accuracy at a close distance. He said the missiles are capable of resisting “any kind of electronic war.”
