The U.S Navy awarded Lockheed Martin $559 million for Trident II (D5) missiles.
The contract covers Trident II (D5) missile production and deployed systems support.
Work is expected to be completed Sept. 30, 2026.
Fiscal 2021 weapons procurement (Navy) funds in the amount of $477 million; United Kingdom funds in the amount of $74 million; and fiscal 2020 weapons procurement (Navy) in the amount of $8 million are being obligated on this award, none of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year, a U.S. DoD release today said.
The Trident II D5 Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) is a three-stage, solid-propellant, inertial-guided ballistic missile. It can carry multiple independently targeted re-entry bodies for a maximum range of over 7,360km.
