Yemeni Houtis Launch Drones, Missiles at Saudi Targets; Intercepted, Says Riyadh

The Yemeni Houti army launched multiple drone attacks against Saudi targets, including oil refineries on Wednesday evening and early hours of today.

“Using 17 drones, including 10 of the Samad-3 type, the Yemeni forces launched a massive attack towards Saudi Aramco refineries in Jubail and Jeddah,” Yemen’s Al Masirah TV reported.

Yemeni armed forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree was quoted as saying by AL Masirah that the country's forces also attacked Saudi Arabia with several ballistic missiles.

He indicated that Aramco's refineries in Jeddah and Jubail were hit with 10 Sammad-3-type drones, and sensitive military sites in Khamis Mushait and Jizan regions were also hit with 5 Qasif-2k-type drones and two Badr 1 ballistic missiles.

He added that the offensive started on Sunday evening and that their objectives have been achieved “successfully.”

A  statement by the Official Spokesman of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Brigadier General Turki Al-Malki said  today:

The Royal Saudi Air Defense has intercepted and destroyed Wednesday’s evening and this morning (Thursday) (4) bomb-laden UAVs and (5) ballistic missiles launched by the terrorist, Iran-backed Houthi militia from (Sa’dah) governorate toward (Jazan) city.

The terrorist Houthi militia attempted to target a number of civilian objects, of which is the attempt to target Jazan University. The interception resulted in scattered debris on campus, which caused a fire that was contained without any losses to civilian life.

On March 22, Saudi Arabia proposed a comprehensive UN-sponsored ceasefire in Yemen, but the Yemenis insist that Riyadh must first lift the economic blockade of Yemeni ports and airports to show its commitment to the so-called ceasefire.
