India Completes Flight Test of Akash New Generation Missile

India Completes Flight Test of Akash New Generation (NG) surface-to-air missile off the eastern coast of the country on Wednesday.

The missile was launched from a land- based platform with all weapon system elements in the Integrated Test Range (ITR) Located in Balasore, Odisha.

Akash-NG is a new generation Surface-to-Air Missile meant for use by Indian Air Force (IAF) with an aim of intercepting high maneuvering low RCS aerial threats. The system has been developed with better deploy ability compared to other similar systems with canisterized launcher and much smaller ground system footprint.

The test launch was carried out by a combined team of DRDO, BDL & BEL in the presence of the representatives of IAF.
