Rolls-Royce to Supply C-130J Engines to France, Germany and NZ

Rolls-Royce has won $83 million to deliver engines that power C-130J aircraft to France, Germany, and New Zealand.

“The Rolls Royce Corp., Indianapolis, Indiana, has been awarded an $82,957,980 delivery order (FA8504-21-F-0059) under basic requirements contract FA8504-17-D-0002 for the procurement of engines to support the C-130J aircraft fleet. Work will be performed in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2024. This contract involves Foreign Military Sales (FMS) to France, Germany, and New Zealand, and is the result of a sole-source acquisition,” a U.S. DoD release today said.

Work is expected to be completed by December 31, 2024.

The Rolls-Royce AE 2100 is a 4,000-shp class two-spool turboprop engine with a 14-stage high-pressure compressor driven by a two-stage high-pressure gas turbine. The low-pressure shaft is driven by a two-stage power turbine and drives the compound planetary reduction gearbox connected to the propeller. The engine is the first to use dual FADECs (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) to control both engine and propeller.

The engine powers C-27J Spartan JCA, C-130J Hercules, LM-100J, ShinMaywa US-2 and Saab 2000 aircraft.
