U.A.E. F-16s Knock Down Houthi Missile Launchers in Yemen

The F-16 jets operated by the U.A.E. Air Force destroyed ballistic missile launcher in northern Yemen’s Al-Jawf governorate on Monday.

In a statement, the defense ministry said its F-16s destroyed the launchers at 4:10 hrs Yemen time immediately after it launched two ballistic missiles at Abu Dhabi. The missiles fired at its capital were successfully intercepted, the ministry added. It released a black-and-white video of the attack, showing an explosion followed by a large fire that sent up plumes of thick smoke.

Nobody was hurt in the attack.

Witnesses cited by various reports claimed they saw bright flashes arcing over Abu Dhabi in the early hours of Monday as two ballistic missiles were intercepted, scattering debris.

Separately, missiles were fired on U.A.E.’s ally Saudi Arabia in regions bordering Yemen, with two people wounded in Jazan, and another missile intercepted over Dhahran al-Janub.
