The Russian Ministry of Defense on Sunday admitted to casualties among its forces in Ukraine but did not specify the number of soldiers killed or wounded.

"Russian servicemen are showing courage and heroism while fulfilling combat tasks in the special military operation. Unfortunately, there are killed and injured among our comrades," Moscow’s Army spokesman, Igor Konashenkov, was quoted as saying by government-owned TASS.

He added that several Russian soldiers had also been taken as prisoners. "We know how Ukrainian Nazis are treating those few Russian servicemen who have been taken prisoner. We see that they use the same tortures as German Nazis during the Great Patriotic War (the Eastern Front during WWII where the former Soviet Union fought against Nazi Germany.”

Since the beginning of the ‘special miliary operation’ in Ukraine, the Russian forces have wiped out more than 1,067 military facilities, the spokesman said. This includes 27 command and communication centers; a number of Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 drones; 38 air defense systems: S-300, Buk M-1 and Osa; 254 tanks and armored vehicles; 46 multiple rocket launchers; 103 field artillery pieces and mortars; 164 special military vehicles; more than 30 aircraft; and 56 radars.

"On Sunday alone, seven air defense systems, including one S-300 near Kramatorsk were destroyed. Three Bayraktar TB-2 drones were shot down in the suburbs of Chernigov," Konashenkov said.

Ukraine’s state-owned Ukroboronprom said the locally-built world’s largest cargo plane, Antonov-225 Mriya, was burnt in a Russian attack on Hostomel airport near Kyiv. The company added that it would take over $3 billion to restore the aircraft.

On Sunday night, Ukraine claimed Russia had suffered 4300 soldiers killed and over 200 captured.
