The Russian military today launched missile attacks from aircraft and ships at the Kremenchug oil refinery in Ukraine in what looks to be a revenge attack after Kyiv's surprise heli-borne raid on an oil storage facility in the Russian town of Belgorod on April 1.
The Kremenchug oil refinery is one of Ukraine's major oil processing facilities. The impact of the attack on Ukrainian oil and gasoline avilability has not yet been disclosed by Kyiv.
"This morning, high-precision long-range air and sea-based weapons destroyed storage facilities with gasoline and diesel fuel at the Kremenchug oil refinery, from which the Ukrainian group of troops was supplied in the central and eastern regions of the country," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said Saturday.
In addition, a missile attack took place on Ukrainian military airfields in Poltava and Dnepropetrovsk.
"High-precision air-launched missiles disabled military airfields in the cities of Poltava and Dnepropetrovsk," Konashenkov said.

On April 1, Konashenkov reported that two Ukrainian Mi-24 helicopters entered Russian airspace at extremely low altitude on Friday morning and attacked an oil storage facility in Belgorod.
"As a result of the rocket hit, individual tanks were damaged and caught fire. Only civilian transport was supplied with fuel from this facility. The tank farm has nothing to do with the Russian armed forces," Konashenkov said on April 1.
