The Russian Army is reportedly focusing on capturing Lysychansk, the last unoccupied city in the Luhansk region.
"After capturing Severodonetsk, the enemy concentrated all its forces on capturing the last fortress of the Luhansk region - Lysychansk," the head of the Luhansk regional administration Serhiy Haidai posted on his official Telegram account.
Haidai claimed the city is “almost unrecognizable” Russian air strikes. He noted that after the withdrawal of the Ukrainian troops, Russia gained a foothold in Severodonetsk, Syrotyne, Voronove and Borivske.
"Finally, the Russians shelled Azot plant and the emergency services training ground in Severodonetsk, shelled the towns of Pavlograd and Synetskyi, and already destroyed bridges to Lysychansk," he said.
Vovchoyarivka, Loskutivka, Verkhnokamyanka and Zolotarivka, all of which are located in the Luhansk region, were also destroyed by the Russia, Haidai further stated.
On June 24, Haidai said the Ukrainian military were withdrawing from Severodonetsk “because it makes no sense to stay at the broken positions.” He added that Russia had been bombing the city for four months. “90% of the buildings have been destroyed or damaged (in Severodonetsk). The Ukrainian military was given the command to withdraw to new positions, to new fortified areas in order to conduct combat operations from there,” he said.
