Two Ukrainian fighter aircraft – MiG-29 and Su-25 – were shot down in a single day by Russian Air Force Su-35 jet, Russia claims.

“Russian Su-35s fighters shot down: one MiG-29 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force near Nikolaev and one Su-25 near the village of Adamovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR)," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing today.

Konashenkov further claimed that Russian air defense systems managed to destroy 17 Ukrainian UAVs.

"In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 234 aircraft, 137 helicopters, 1,479 UAVs, 353 anti-aircraft missile systems, 3,935 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 724 combat vehicles of multiple launch rocket systems, 3,102 field artillery pieces and mortars, and also 4,064 units of special military vehicles," Konashenkov added.

Russia has been marketing its Su-35 fighters to its potential customers by claiming that these jets have shot down several MiG-29, Su-24, Su-25, Su-27 combat aircraft and drones operated by the Ukraine Army. State-owned Zvezda said Su-35 helped Russia control Ukrainian airspace, escort warplanes and destruct enemy air defense systems.

Rosoboronexport describes the Su-35 as the most powerful 4++ generation jet with the elements of the 5th generation. The multi-role supermaneuverable one-seat fighter is designed to engage air, ground threats and to counteract naval surface forces of an enemy, to destruct ground infrastructure objects as well as to conduct aerial surveillance.
