Ukrainian Armed Forces will soon get armored personnel carriers (APC) from Lithuania.
Confirming the military aid, Lithuanian defense ministry said it will supply M113 and M577 APCs. It is also planning to organize military training for Ukrainian troops.
“The number of M113s provided or promised makes this armored vehicle a significant part of the Ukrainian Armed Forces… Ukraine has also identified key requirements for the military training and the Lithuanian Army are now ready to meet them,” defense minister Arvydas Anušauskas commented.
Lithuania has so far provided military aid worth around $123 million. It includes Stinger anti-tank missiles, body armor and helmets, 120 mm mortars, ammunition, thermal imagers, drones, anti-drone systems, surveillance radars, military trucks and M113 APCs.
Lithuanian citizens donated around $6 million last month to buy a Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 UCAV under a campaign launched by Internet broadcaster Laisves TV, of which some $1.6 million was used to buy equipment and missiles for the drone.
