The Pentagon will send additional ammunition for HIMARS systems, while Britain has promised to deliver warships including two mine-countermeasure vessels to Ukraine.

On Monday, the U.S. announced $550 million in security assistance to Kyiv that covers 75,000 rounds of 155mm artillery ammunition; as well as additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS). In total, the United States has committed approximately $8.8 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the Biden Administration. Since 2014, the United States has committed more than $10 billion in security assistance to Ukraine.

On July 31, Ukraine reportedly used the HIMARS to hit a 40-car train transporting Russian troops, equipment, and ammunition from Crimea. The attack is said to have killed around 80 Russian soldiers and injured nearly 200.

Vadym Prystaiko Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.K. told Suspilne during an interview that the Ukrainian Navy will soon receive several British warships. He added that Ukrainian servicemen are already being trained to operate these warships.

Prystaiko said Ukraine was in dire need of minesweepers. "Our priorities have shifted. We now need minesweepers. 2 is the initial figure that we are looking at. These are warships that are in service with Her Majesty's Naval Forces," he said.

The ambassador added that these ships will be modernized and that equipment necessary for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be added.

"But it's not just 2 ships. They have more of the same class. And our officers and sailors are now undergoing training on the existing ships," Prystaiko summed up.
