Romania’s defense ministry has sent a request to Parliament seeking its approval to acquire Bayraktar TB2 combat drones for $300 million.
According to local media reports, Romania wants about 18 such UCAVs at an estimated price of $300 million.
The price for a single TB2 unit has been estimated between $5-5.5 million, based on several European crowdfunding campaigns launched in 2022 to buy Bayraktar UAVs for Ukraine with all of them fixing the goal.
Romania’s TB2 package will cover the purchase of the 18 drones and "the initial logistical support package and specific training and training equipment.”
The defense ministry will be able to start negotiations with Turkish drone maker Baykar as soon as it receives legislative approval.
