Ukraine’s Army is striving to pierce through the defensive lines of the forces in the contested Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), a local official has stated.
"The situation is serious. I won’t engage in flippant optimism and say everything is nice and easy. The enemy keeps trying to pierce our defense lines in some places, using their sheer numbers," Andrey Marochko, an officer of the People's Militia of the LPR, said on Solovyov Live television.
Marochko said the allied forces command has deployed its forces and is holding defense.
"Efforts were increased where breeches are possible. Our troops started to dig in well, build fortifications," he said. "We are working according to the plan, but the turning point is still far off because the enemy is pushing very hard."
Meanwhile, the armed forces of Ukraine say they 'liberated' seven settlements in the Luhansk region.
On 7 October, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the country’s military liberated 776 sqkm of Russia-captured territory, or 29 settlements, of which six of them are in Luhansk Oblast. A day earlier, Sergii Haidai, the Head of the Luhansk Oblast Military Administration, reported that Ukrainian forces had liberated Hrekivka village in Luhansk.
