Another Russian national carrying drone and camera equipment has been detained by Norwegian authorities after he was seen taking photos of an airport in the far north.
Police in the northern town of Tromso have confiscated a large amount of photography equipment, including a drone and a cache of memory cards; as well as photographs of another airport in the northern town of Kirkenes and the military's Bell helicopters, from the 51-year-old man.
The security around Norway’s energy installations have been tightened after Nord Stream explosions and mysterious drone sightings.
Norway's Police Security Service has been called in on the investigation.
On Friday, another 50-year-old Russian man was arrested at the border post of Storskog, the only transit point between Norway and Russia. He was carrying two Russian passports and an Israeli one.
The man admitted to flying drones "across the whole country" since August, when he came to the country, but denied any wrongdoing. He was carrying a partially encrypted four-terabyte stash of photos and videos at the time of his arrest.
This man was placed in provisional custody for two weeks.
