Ukraine’s airspace will be protected from Russian missiles and drones by yet another Patriot battery pledged by the Netherlands.
"Very important news came from Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte today," Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelenskyy said in a video address, posted on his Telegram channel late on Tuesday. "One more Patriot battery will be provided to Ukraine."
The Netherlands will join the U.S. and Germany in sending the Patriot missile defense system to Ukraine.
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said the Netherlands has decided to spend an additional €2.5 billion.
The Patriot is one of few missile systems capable of taking down Russian X-22 (Kh-22) supersonic missiles that have been raining on Ukrainian cities. Kyiv says it has no weapon in its arsenal that can do the job currently.
