China is reportedly trying to sell JF-17 Thunder fighters to The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), a deal which Russia too wants to win with its Sukhoi Su-27.
A high-level delegation from the China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation (CATIC) recently visited Kinshasa to talk to the Congolese President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo about the sale, as per multiple reports.
The new offer aims to meet the wish of Congolese leader to strengthen the air-force component of the Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC), which is currently equipped with only a few Sukhoi Su-25s of Soviet design.
China has also offered the J-10 multirole combat jets to DRC.
DRC has previously acquired nine Chinese CH-4 combat drones made by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).
Argentina is also said to be considering the JF-17s.
