Caesar Artillery, Leopard 2 Tanks Set to Arrive in Ukraine

Ukraine’s armed forces will soon receive eight Leopard 2 battle tanks and 19 CAESAR self-propelled howitzers.

Canada’s Minister of National Defense Anita Anand said in a tweet April 14 that all Leopard 2 tanks promised to Kyiv have arrived in Poland.

In the beginning of February, the first Canadian Leopard 2A4 main battle tank arrived in Poland in a C-17 military transport aircraft.

Ukrainian recruits are being trained in Leopard 2 tank operation in Poland within the framework of the Operation UNIFIER initiated by Canada in 2015.

Meanwhile, Denmark will be transferring all 19 CAESAR 8×8 self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine in the coming weeks. The country’s defense ministry said that a number of technical problems arose with the howitzers, which had to be solved in cooperation with manufacturer Nexter and the Ukrainians.
