China's NORINCO Visits Argentina, Type 15 Tank Model Presented to Defense Minister
A delegation from China’s NORINCO Group visited Argentina on April 26 to reportedly offer Type 15 battle tanks.
This was reported by SA Defensa. Among NORINCO officials who visited the country was Vice President Xu Hongyu.
The officials handed over a model of the Type 15 battle tank to Defense Minister Jorge Taiana.
Argentine Ambassador to China Sabino Vaca Narvaja recently held a work meeting with Taiana and his team in Buenos Aires to promote cooperation with China in the field of national defense.
Argentina is seeking Chinese-Pakistani JF-17 combat jets and NORINCO’s 8x8 armored vehicles.
Fu Qianshao, a military expert, told Chinese state-owned Global Times last month that Argentina has long been seeking to procure new fighter jets to replace its aging and shrinking warplane fleet, but because of the issue of the Malvinas Islands, the UK has blocked Argentina's aircraft procurement attempts on the international market.
