100 Percent Hit Rate by Pantsir Air Defense System against HIMARS Rockets

Russia’s Pantsir anti-aircraft system has managed to shoot down all HIMARS rockets fired within its range in Ukraine, a Rostec official has claimed.

Oleg Sitnikov, a representative of Shcheglovsky Val JSC, part of Rostec-owned High-precision Complexes holding, told state media that “the Russian complex with a full ammunition load of 12 anti-aircraft missiles shot down the same number of shells from the American multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).”

HIMARS is armed with various types of missiles flying at different ranges, with different speeds.

The Pantsir-S air defense systems contains a combination of missiles and guns to shoot down missiles as well as drones and low flying aircraft.

The HIMARS artillery system, donated by the U.S. to Ukraine has a range of 70 kms and can shoot guided rockets. Prior to introduction in Ukraine, it was touted as a game changer which could enable Kyiv's forces to attack Russian front-lines and push back its army from occupied regions of Ukraine.
