France and Ukraine are working towards joint production of spare parts for foreign-made military equipment.
“The framework for the joint production of spare parts and maintenance of foreign weapons and equipment has been established,” Oleksii Reznikov, Minister of Defense of Ukraine, confirmed in a Twitter post today.
The agreement with France was signed at the NATO summit in Vilnius. On the sidelines of the summit, Reznikov held a meeting with French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu.
Reznikov added that the military aid to Ukraine will increase by €170 million. He also said the process for procurement and supply of weapons to Ukraine will be simplified.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Tuesday that France will supply Ukraine with SCALP long-range cruise missiles from French Armed Forces’ own stockpile. The operational flight range of “domestic” missiles is 560km, depending on the flight mode; while the export variant has a limited range of not more than 300km.
