Russians intercepted a U.S.-manufactured AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation tactical missile fired by Ukraine’s military at Donetsk on Wednesday.
"The enemy used an American AGM-88 HARM high-speed, anti-radiation missile, which was shot down by the air defense forces. The shelling by Ukraine’s armed formations was conducted from weapons sent by NATO countries, which collectively keep terrorizing civilians and destroying the republic’s social infrastructure," Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) mission to the Joint Control and Coordination Center for issues related to Ukrainian war crimes said in a statement.
The statement claimed that two houses were destroyed, but there were no casualties.
Washington supplied AGM-88 HARM missiles to Ukraine in August 2022. According to open sources, the missiles are used by the Ukrainian MiG-29 and Su-27 aircraft.
Russian media reported citing sources in December that these missiles showed “zero effectiveness in the framework of the hostilities in Ukraine.” The source attributed their “low efficiency” to the missile’s “mediocre maximum speed,” which is a little over 600 meters per second and “high visibility."
