Ukraine Says Russian Shahed Drones Exploded in Romania; Romania Denies

Russian-made Shahed drones from Iran crashed and exploded in Romania on September 4th, while they were targeting the port of Izmail in the Odessa region.

Oleh Nikolenko, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, highlighted the threat posed by Russian missile attacks to Ukraine and neighboring countries, urging partners to expedite the delivery of modern missile defense systems and combat aircraft.

Ukraine's air defense forces reportedly managed to shoot down 17 Russian drones.

These attacks damaged warehouses, production buildings, and equipment in two territorial communities, with no reported casualties as of now.

On the night of August 2nd, these same drones were used to target Izmail city, violating Romanian airspace in the process. Eyewitnesses reported that the UAVs approached from different directions, possibly to confuse Ukrainian air defenses.

The Romanian Defense Ministry clarified that Romania remained unscathed. The nation's Foreign Ministry affirmed that the assaults on Monday did not constitute a direct threat to its sovereign territory or maritime boundaries.
