Indonesian Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto officially handed over five indigenously made NC-212i transport aircraft to the country’s Air Force at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base on Tuesday.
The five aircraft are part of the procurement of nine NC-212i aircraft for the Indonesian Air Force which will strengthen Air Squadron 4 Air Wing 2 Abdulrachman Saleh Air Base, Malang, East Java.
The aim of procuring these aircraft is to support TNI operational activities, both in War Military Operations (OMP) and Military Operations Other Than War (OMSP), encourage national economic growth and advance the domestic defense industry.
The NC-212i aircraft has a variety of use configurations, such as troop transport, air medical evacuation, aerial reconnaissance, weather modification, and air navigation training. The simple design and maintenance process makes this aircraft efficient in operational and maintenance costs, making it the best aircraft in the light transport aircraft class.
The advantages of the NC-212i aircraft include the use of the latest generation avionics system to improve flight safety and reduce the workload of the aircraft crew, a maximum load of 28 passengers with the largest payload in its class, namely 3 tonnes, the widest cabin in its class with a cabin volume of 22 m3, equipped with a ramp door for convenience. loading and unloading, as well as take-off and landing capabilities on unpaved runways.
