The Iranian Navy officially received a range of new domestically developed weapons and equipment on Sunday, including strategic cruise missile systems and electronic warfare helicopters.
The delivery ceremony took place at a coastal naval base in southern Iran and was attended by Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi.
The newly introduced arsenal comprises the 'Talayieh' strategic cruise missile system, the Nasir cruise missile system, the Navy's first electronic warfare helicopter, and the first intelligence gathering chopper. Additionally, surface-to-surface missile systems, the 'Sanjar' smart loitering and suicide drone carried by the Jamaran destroyer, a multipurpose drone system for electronic warfare, a diver detection system, and the 'Sirvan' tug boat utilized in ports and anchorages are part of the acquisition.
Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, speaking at the event, detailed the capabilities of the new weapons. The 'Talayieh' strategic cruise missile system possesses a range exceeding 1,000 kilometers, featuring the ability to change course mid-flight and select a new target. The Nasir cruise missile, with a range surpassing 100 kilometers, is noted for its potent destructive power and integration onto various naval destroyers of diverse classes.
Regarding the newly introduced naval helicopters, Admiral Irani highlighted their incorporation of electronic warfare systems, self-protection mechanisms, and the capacity to deceive different missiles. The helicopters are equipped with advanced optical devices, intelligence gathering systems, and Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) systems, enabling them to undertake both naval combat and civilian maritime operations.
