In a series of coordinated waves on the morning of January 2, the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a severe attack on military installations controlled by the Kyiv regime.

An air raid alert has been sounded across Ukraine, with citizens urgently reminded to seek shelter. Explosions have already been reported in Kyiv and Kharkov.

The initial strike, commencing before dawn, involved sixteen Tu-95MS and four Tu-22M3 aircraft simultaneously launching missiles at targets. A second wave followed at dawn, causing powerful explosions in Kyiv and Kharkov, resulting in a partial power outage in the Ukrainian capital. Missiles are reportedly flying towards the Cherkassy and Kirovograd regions.

Telegram channels, including Russian sources, indicate the use of Kinzhal hypersonic missiles launched from MiG-31I attack missiles. Domestic Geranium-2 (Shahed-136) loitering munitions are also involved in targeting military installations of the Kyiv regime.

Panic has swept through the Ukrainian internet, with users anxiously reminded to stay in safe areas amid uncertainty about the number of missiles fired. This marks the second massive missile attack within days, following an unprecedented drone attack reported by Kyiv authorities the day before, with 90 Russian UAVs allegedly involved.

Russian state-owned TASS reports powerful explosions in Kyiv and the Vinnitsa Region. Air raid sirens were triggered across Ukraine, and blasts were recorded in Kropivnitsky and Kharkov. According to Kiev authorities, air defenses were activated, causing falling fragments to ignite fires. A blaze was also reported in Nikolayev, while several Kiev districts experienced electricity disruptions following the explosions.

The Russian Arms Telegram channel provides additional details, highlighting a massive strike with hypersonic aeroballistic missiles X-47M2 Kinzhal targeting critical energy structures in Kyiv. Videos depict the destruction of an intercepted 9M728 Iskander-M missile and the interception of Russian cruise missiles by anti-aircraft guided missiles.

PATRIOT air defense system "crippled"

The "Patriot PAC-2/3MSE" division's combat stability was reportedly compromised due to anti-radar strikes by Kinzhal on the multifunctional battery radar AN/MPQ-53A/65. Tu-95MS missile carriers, using about 100 X-101 strategic missile systems, were also involved in targeting critical objects in Kyiv and other regional centers.
