Ukroboronprom, Ukraine's state-owned defense conglomerate has officially announced its collaboration with four prominent Lithuanian defense companies, specializing in the development of optical and electronic jamming systems.
The strategic partnership was unveiled through a statement posted on Ukroboronprom's official Facebook page.
The Lithuanian companies involved in this venture include NT Service, Brolis Semiconductors, RSI Europe, and DMEXS. This collaboration aims to enhance capabilities in the research and development of defense equipment, with a particular focus on optical sights for rifles, thermal imagers, systems for remote initiation of detonation, electronic warfare (EW) systems, and advanced communication technologies.
The letter of intent was formally signed during a ceremony held on January 10, 2024, as part of the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Vilnius, Lithuania.
Herman Smetanin, Director General of Ukroboronprom, expressed gratitude to the President of Ukraine, the Office of the President, and the Ministry of Strategic Industries for their dedicated efforts in reaching agreements with the new Baltic partners. Smetanin highlighted the potential of this collaboration in providing enhanced opportunities for joint developments, ultimately contributing to Ukraine's military capabilities.
The same day, Lithuania approved a long-term €200 million aid package for Ukraine, which will include, among other things, ammunition, generators and M577 armored vehicles.
