Airbase in Southern Israel Hit as Iran Launches Hundreds of Missiles, Drones

An airbase in southern Israel was “slightly” damaged as a barrage of Iranian missiles and drones were launched on Sunday morning.

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) told local media  that the full Iranian attack consisted of over 300 threats, of which 100 were ballistic missiles launched from Iran and another 30 cruise missiles launched from Iran, as well as drones.

Besides there were also 40 total rockets, fired on Israel from Lebanon, with Israel responding with counterattacks in close to real-time.

Interception by Arrow air defense system

 The IDF later Tweeted, “The IDF Aerial Defense Array successfully intercepted the majority of the launches using the Arrow Aerial Defense System, together with Israel's strategic allies, before the launches crossed into Israeli territory.

A small number of hits were identified, including at an IDF base in southern Israel, where minor damage was caused to infrastructure. Many dozens of hostile aircraft, as well as dozens of cruise missiles, were identified approaching Israeli territory from Iran and intercepted over the past few hours. Dozens of IAF fighter jets are currently operating to intercept all aerial threats approaching Israeli territory.”

Operation True Promise

 Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said in a statement in the early hours of Sunday that the IRGC Aerospace Force has launched tens of missiles and drones in retaliation for the Israeli regime’s recent airstrike that killed several Iranian military commanders and advisers in Syria.

It added that the missiles successfully hit targets inside occupied territories.

The IRGC called the mission as “Operation True Promise”.
