Rostec subsidiary United Engine Corporation (UEC) has proposed the establishment of joint aircraft engine projects with BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) countries.
The initiative, presented at a BRICS Partnership Advisory Group meeting in Nizhny Novgorod, aims to advance the development, production, and after-sales service of modern aircraft engines.
The proposal includes the formation of a working group to enhance technological cooperation in engine building. UEC suggests that new products could be developed using both existing and advanced power plants produced by the corporation.
Alexander Skirdov, Head of UEC's Marketing Department, stated, "UEC is ready to develop broad technological cooperation in the development and production of aircraft engines for civil aviation, and their after-sales service. We also offer joint projects to create industrial and marine gas turbine power plants."
In addition to the aircraft engine initiative, UEC introduced a promising project at the exhibition of Russian high-tech industrial products: a hybrid power plant demonstrator with a capacity of 500 kW. This plant combines electric and gas turbine engines to achieve greater fuel efficiency compared to traditional power plants.
UEC also proposed the creation of a unified database for BRICS countries, which would include information on aviation equipment components, parts, and national manufacturers. The initiative aims to standardize industry standards and regulatory requirements across the aviation sector.
The BRICS Partnership Advisory Group meeting, part of the broader BRICS industry ministers' gathering dedicated to the new industrial revolution, showcased a range of domestic civil engines produced by UEC. BRICS, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and the recently joined Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia, continues to explore collaborative industrial advancements.
