At the International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) 2024 in Kielce, the Polish defense company WB GROUP unveiled the Warmate 50 kamikaze drone featuring a 50-kilogram warhead.
Currently under development, the Warmate 50’s capabilities make it the first long-range loitering munition of its kind produced in Poland.
According to the company's disclosed details, the Warmate 50 will be capable of striking targets "hundreds of kilometers away" from its launch point.
The final design of this long-range suicide drone is still in progress- the type of engine is unspecified beyond being described as an "internal combustion engine," with no estimates provided for travel speed or range.
The Warmate 50 is being developed based on an earlier model, the Warmate 20, which features a smaller 20-kilogram warhead and was presented in May 2024. Unlike previous models, the Warmate 50 has only one type of payload—explosive—adopting an approach that prioritizes combat effectiveness over the flexibility of surveillance functions.
This optimization suggests that the Warmate 50 will be tailored for strikes on stationary targets at long distances. It will navigate toward predetermined coordinates using its own guidance systems, with no option for remote control or in-flight adjustments.
