BAE Systems Australia has introduced a new uncrewed ground vehicle (UGV), the Autonomous Tactical Light Armour System (ATLAS) Collaborative Combat Variant (CCV).
Designed to provide military commanders with a tactical advantage while minimizing risk to soldiers, the ATLAS CCV offers a cost-effective, modular solution for ground operations.
The 8x8 ATLAS CCV is intended to operate autonomously both on- and off-road, working alongside crewed military assets such as infantry fighting vehicles and main battle tanks.
Key to the vehicle’s capability is its autonomy, which allows it to navigate terrain, avoid obstacles, and make tactical decisions without direct human intervention. Despite its autonomous features, the ATLAS CCV maintains a "human-in-the-loop" system for targeting through its VANTAGE ATS turret system, ensuring human oversight in critical situations.
The vehicle is also designed to be transportable in standard 20-foot ISO containers, providing logistical support to crewed platforms and enhancing their combat endurance.
BAE Systems has worked with a range of partners, including Supacat, Valhalla Turrets, and Marand, to bring the ATLAS CCV to market.
