Anduril Australia has announced a three-year trial contract with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) to demonstrate its air and ground defence capabilities at RAAF Base Darwin.
The trial aims to enhance the defence of Australia’s northern bases, particularly against drone and other emerging threats.
Anduril’s base protection system employs a Family of Systems approach, integrating a variety of active and passive sensors along with both kinetic and non-kinetic effectors. The system is tailored to the specific security needs of RAAF Base Darwin and its environmental conditions.
At the heart of this system is Lattice, an open architecture software platform that facilitates integration and command and control of both Anduril and third-party sensors. Lattice provides persistent 24/7 surveillance, with autonomous detection, classification, and tracking of objects. The system alerts users to potential threats, offering options for mitigation or engagement of ground or airborne targets.
The contract will allow Anduril Australia to deliver counter-drone and counter-intrusion capabilities as a service. Continuous updates to the hardware and software will be provided, ensuring the system remains effective against evolving threats without additional costs.
