Lebanon’s Hezbollah has reportedly targeted the Israeli-occupied city of Haifa with missiles in a series of attacks early Monday morning.
According to Iran’s state-controlled IRNA, the strikes caused chaos among Israeli forces and settlers in the area. Hezbollah claimed to have used Fadi-1 missiles, striking various locations in Haifa, including Israel’s Carmel military base.
Israeli military sources confirmed that at least 15 missiles were launched from southern Lebanon toward northern Israel, prompting air raid sirens in Haifa and surrounding regions. Footage from the area shows smoke rising from impacted buildings, and reports indicate a significant crater was left amid high-rise structures. Israeli media reported at least 10 individuals injured, with damage inflicted on a busy urban area, including a restaurant.
The attacks coincide with the first anniversary of the October 7 assault, and Hezbollah stated that the missile strikes were in response to what it termed Israeli aggression against civilians. The group also announced a separate missile attack on the Nimra military base near Tiberias, emphasizing its support for Palestinian resistance in Gaza.
In a related incident, five people were reportedly injured in Haifa due to a barrage of rockets fired on Sunday, which the IDF acknowledged was not intercepted by air defense systems. Additionally, several rockets targeted Tiberias, with one man suffering serious injuries.
A rocket barrage struck Haifa while 15 rockets targeted Kiryat Shmona, some intercepted by air defenses, with no injuries reported. Haifa’s Mayor Yona Yahav visited the scene, expressing hope it would be the last strike since Hezbollah began firing on October 8 last year. Earlier, reports came in of rockets impacting Karmiel and surrounding towns.
Throughout Sunday, about 120 rockets were fired from Lebanon at northern Israel, according to the IDF.
Following these incidents, the Israeli military conducted airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in Beirut on Sunday night, aiming at surveillance equipment, command centers and weapon storage facilities, amid ongoing hostilities in the region.
