Fincantieri, Barzan Holdings Partner on Anti-Drone Radar for Qatar

Fincantieri Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Barzan Holdings, a company under the Qatari Ministry of Defense, to develop the Omega360 radar system.

This radar will serve as the key sensor in Qatar’s national anti-drone system.

The MoU outlines plans for a joint venture between the companies to localize production in Qatar, supplying 40 Omega360 radar units. The first operational systems are expected by the end of 2026. Omega360 is a short-range surveillance system with a fully digital 360-degree architecture, designed to detect and classify drone threats using artificial intelligence.

The partnership will also establish a Center of Excellence in Qatar for the assembly and maintenance of these radar systems, enhancing local technological expertise.
