Ukraine places order for tens of thousands of 155mm propellant modules amid ongoing defense cooperation with Rheinmetall.
Rheinmetall has secured a contract with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense to deliver several tens of thousands of 155mm artillery propellant modules. The €9 million deal was finalized in the fourth quarter of 2024, with deliveries scheduled to begin in January 2025.
The modules, designed for use with modern artillery systems, allow for adjustable ranges by separately loading projectiles and propellant charges. Rheinmetall, a prominent global manufacturer of large-caliber ammunition and propellant systems.
As part of broader cooperation, the company signed a memorandum of understanding during the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 in Berlin to explore further collaboration with Ukraine's defense industry. Planned projects include artillery ammunition production and the delivery and potential local manufacturing of Lynx infantry fighting vehicles.
The partnership also aims to boost Ukraine’s defense capabilities through the reindustrialization of domestic production facilities.
